In agile, we often talk about delivering value each iteration. Adapting and responding to change instead of huge upfront planning. It is by now the conventional wisdom that to succeed, ‘E2E test automation’ has to be carried out as seriously as any other software development project.
By that virtue, it should also iteratively deliver value which in this case is faster feedback and release confidence right from day 1. But what actually happens is that E2E test automation projects start lagging behind. Perhaps, too much overengineering and upfront planning. A lot of time is wasted in choosing the right tool as if the application which has to be tested will remain the same for 10 years.
These problems raise some important questions.
1. Are E2E test automation projects inherently waterfall?
2. Are they the bottleneck for the whole team?
3. Do all teams have a shared understanding of what value test automation provides?
This talk reveals all these answers.
