Social media is a prevalent and dominant source of information and also the propagation of information as scale covering the entire geography. There is business impact of certain events and social media can be used effectively to monitor and take mitigating the risk which may have an impact on the business. The supply chain disruptions cause globally 4 Bn dollar and only 3 major types events cause them are Extreme Weather, Natural Calamities, Geo-political Unrests, etc. We will see how an event cascades through the network of a series of events which may have a serious business impact and how to mitigate or minimize proactively with the information prior at hand. The information mining requires natural language processing and machine learning and AI technologies and visualizing the information holistically on the map as it happens.

Speaker Profile

Kumar Hemant, is a seasoned data scientist with over 13+ years of experience in Data Science &, Business Analytics, ML & AI and Software Engineering. He holds master in mathematics & computing from IITG and working with Samsung DMC R&D Seoul Campus. Previously he has worked with Jülich Supercomputing Center, Germany; Infosys Labs (SET Labs) Bangalore; and IBM Research Singapore.
Hemant, a recipient of prestigious Helmholtz-DAAD scholarship, has 6 research/technical papers and 3 patents to his credit.
Hemant is an avid mountaineer and have scaled two virgin peaks in the Himalayas (5300m/17600ft) in the vicinity of Adi Kailash / Ohm Parvat. Also trained in Hindustani classical Violin, in his leisure loves playing mouth-organ.

Sudhir has around 18 years exposure in data analytics & business intelligence in web technology, digital marketing, online dotcoms, visual automation, market research & financial industries. A self professed tech gadget geek, an eFitness enthusiast & an avid fan of "healthy" food, Sudhir spends weekends running, reading/writing, and pursues business analytics courses via MIT, HBX, SMU & IIMB. His day job is transforming digital analytics & enabling smart visual data driven decisions in a UK based bank spanning 70 countries.

The theme of the topic would be "Environment Sustainability". How financial data such as credit card transactions can tell a story or two about environment sustainability. How can data be leveraged to find solutions to some of today’s most pressing global sustainability issues, ranging from air pollution to transportation and water use. We can use data to devise solutions to sustainability challenges. The data provided would be financial credit card transaction data, environment data such as air pollution and Pollutant Standards Index levels, and energy consumption data such as electricity and water and other data.
