Overview of the event

We recently wrapped up first half of 2019 as the year of digital quality. We talked about how digital transformation is going to bring even more drastic shifts in how we do software delivery. And how your organization needs to brace up to bring agile models to work in order to release higher quality software faster through automated testing.

A key trend that will sweep over to bring economies of scale, speed and intelligence will be automated testing followed by AI. We've seen a massive movement from manual to automation in the last couple of years, as manual could not handle this scale of change. Manual testing matrices are too big to approximate manually, take a long time, and are very complex to handle for applications like Uber, Snapchat, and Twitter that are scaling at the speed of light.

Manual testing might not be able to meet the demand of a plethora of web browsers, devices, operating systems, screen resolutions, and responsive designs. And to deliver quality at the speed of digital, there will be a need to bring in the right automated testing initiatives. But automation is vast and there are several nuances to it. Which nuances will be more pronounced in 2019?

Agile Testing and Test Automation Summit will help you get industry best practices in Test Automation and the latest tools and techniques to achieve it.

X Topic Abstract

Test automation is a key agile technical practice. While there are test practices and automation tools out there for software development teams to leverage, very few are targeted to data-related development and testing. Learn why data-focused teams don't often automate their tests, and see a simple home-grown test automation tool.

Regardless of whether your data warehousing (DW)/business intelligence (BI) team is dedicated to Scrum, a fan of Kanban, or focused on XP, “Agile” in any form calls for small increments of potentially deployable results – which means that QA is essential on a regular, frequent basis. As we develop these small increments, we need to not only test the new development, but also regression test what we’ve already built. Our test suite grows larger with each iteration, and manual testing quickly becomes infeasible. Agile requires that we automate our tests so that regression testing doesn’t become a development bottleneck.

Test automation is one of several key technical enablement practices that allows teams to be more successful in their agile journeys. While there are lots of test practices and automation tools out there for software development teams to leverage, very few are targeted to data-related development and testing. Agile analytics practitioner Lynn Winterboer will share essential agile test foundations and data-focused test automation technologies to help data warehousing and business intelligence teams get a leg up on this important agile practice!

Why is test automation important for agile DW/BI teams?
Why aren’t all DW/BI teams automating their tests today?
What is the path to data-focused test automation?
Where to start? What tests to automate first?
A simple test automation tool any DW/BI team could build and use

X Topic Abstract

Example Mapping is a agile technique to discover and refine requirements and identify the rules behind those requirements. It allows complex requirements to be broken into different user-stories and the concrete examples describing those user stories. As a bonus, we get a set of comprehensive test-cases that can be easily automated. In this workshop, we will use few live examples and walk through the discovery process to build a shared understanding of those requirements. We will also talk about how to organize a successful Discovery and Formulation process for identifying and implementing different corner cases for requirements.

X Topic Abstract

DevOps, Agile, and other iterative development methodologies are placing heavy demands on quality assurance organizations to adequately test one rapid release after another. Many teams are being asked to do more with less. Time to think outside the box. Stop trying to do more with less; rather, learn how to maximize productivity by learning the skill of doing less and accomplishing more!

Average U.S. employees works at 35% of their potential. Imaging the gains if you increased your team productivity by just 10 or 20 percent? Business process improvement has been the traditional approach to improving productivity, but studies are showing it is not as effective as we believe when it comes to employee productivity.

Scientific studies are now showing that it is our human processes, our good and bad behaviors, that has the most effects on a team's productivity and effectiveness. For example, one study showed a 71% improvement in a few weeks by modifying a single human process.

Based on years of scientific research on how our brain works, Organizational Intelligence, the act of identifying and modifying unwanted bad behaviors and replacing them with productive good behaviors, is proving to be the best approach to increasing organizational productivity.

Agile requires small teams working closely together. Want you Agile effort to be successful? Then let Organizational Intelligence, the new frontier for creating highly productive organizations, show you how you can do less and accomplish more!
