Overview of the event

We recently wrapped up 2019 as the year of digital quality. We talked about how digital transformation is going to bring even more drastic shifts in how we do software delivery. And how your organization needs to brace up to bring agile models to work in order to release higher quality software faster through automated testing.

A key trend that will sweep over to bring economies of scale, speed and intelligence will be automated testing followed by AI. We've seen a massive movement from manual to automation in the last couple of years, as manual could not handle this scale of change. Manual testing matrices are too big to approximate manually, take a long time, and are very complex to handle for applications like Uber, Snapchat, and Twitter that are scaling at the speed of light.

Manual testing might not be able to meet the demand of a plethora of web browsers, devices, operating systems, screen resolutions, and responsive designs. And to deliver quality at the speed of digital, there will be a need to bring in the right automated testing initiatives. But automation is vast and there are several nuances to it. Which nuances will be more pronounced in 2019?

Agile Testing and Test Automation Summit will help you get industry best practices in Test Automation and the latest tools and techniques to achieve it.

Agile Testing and Test Automation Summit, Hong Kong
X Topic Abstract :

As organizations undergo digital transformation to enhance user experience, there is increasing need to focus on improving velocity and agility to delivery higher value to the customer. Testing automation plays a pivotal role in this journey but the biggest challenge lies in ensuring its predictability and sustainability. The bi-model architectural landscape is a given for any large organization. Test automation strategy needs to cater to this coexistence of new ways of working alongside the existing legacy architecture. The operating model in silos and investment of time and effort on multiple tools making it expensive and hard to maintain. The instability of suite and broken tests makes it hard for developer to trust the results. he 3–dimensional approach needed to address these challenges across people, process and technology keeping customer at the center. Define-measure-analyse-improve-control methodology to be applied on each dimension.

Firstly, Organizations need to set up focus group to run centralized testing framework and governance. The rules and guidelines for reuse, build of new and modification of existing tests in the suite. Processes to be defined and adopted around branching, reconciliation and pre & post merge testing of test cases. All testing groups need to work together to share best practices and improve re-usability and scalability. Continuous integration testing to support nightly builds across teams.

The testing framework and tools selection based on scale and extent of automation with focus on use of OOB features with minimal customization and parallel team working. Netflix requires devices based UI testing and has its own framework for scalability and extensibility. Scripting of Test data setup to improve efficiency and reliability. Selenium based scripts for UI based testing for regression testing and faster releases.

Early team engagement is a must in Agile model. The tester become part of sprint teams right from discovery phase and represents the project in testing scrum of scrums. The testing teams should be trained on organization frameworks and tools for best usage.

Test automation is a long continuous journey. Organizations needs to invest and stay put to maximize benefits and to deliver more for less. It cannot replace manual testing but improve developer’s productivity and first time right deployments.

X Topic Abstract :

As we all know that testing is one of the main parts which cannot skip before delivery a product to live, no matter this product is starting an initial release or undergoing an upgrade. Especially some test cases are repetitive and rule-based, we now trending to implement test automation to enhance some those cases to more lightweight and effective run. However, Can everything be automated? Of course the answer is NO! We have to understand the goal and the plan for implementing the test automation.

Test automation is just like a sub project within a product development. Within a test automation project, we need to give it a fully planned and match with the product road map and also of course the testing strategy. So a great test automation strategy should be one of the main factors to make a product development reaching to success. The same experience can be applied to business automation and similiar to test automation, both would have to go through automation process cycle and we will explore at the upcoming talk.

X Topic Abstract :

There are many frameworks available to bring agility to the software at scale. However, they tend to bring a single answer rather than the possibilities open to an organization. Only with experience and experimentation will any team understand whether they chose correctly and how to modify any given approach.

At the heart of Enterprise, Scrum is a language for defining the instance we create. This language gives us options across many different aspects and a way of expressing how we are managing the transition from a traditional operating model to a more fluid model that is resilient to the modern business climate.,

X Topic Abstract :

Agile has provided a strong foundation and a new mindset to allow companies and teams to deliver greater quality and innovation and more value to their customers. However, many organizations have the feeling that they are not prepared to face the current exponential pace of change.

The solution is not just about technology or software teams using well-known methodologies or frameworks but reframing the whole organization and culture to achieve higher Business Agility. This is the key to build a more flexible organization, able to adapt quickly to the continuous market disruptions without losing momentum or vision. People should also be willing to modify their perspectives when confronted with information or situations that contradict their beliefs or ways of work. The final aim should be to achieve a continuous well-being despite constant change and market disruptions.

During this presentation, the 5 types of agility needed for teams to gain higher Business Agility will be explained:

Technical Agility
Structural Agility
Outcomes Agility
Social Agility
Mental Agility

It will also be explained how to measure Business Agility, and help participants find suitable and healthy metrics to increase enterprise agility across their organizations.

X Topic Abstract :

Any new process or structure poses a new set of initial challenges. Adopting agile and adapting to agile are indeed two different things when it comes to delivering quality software. Any technology team's initial response to these new challenges is to keep doing what they do but faster. Making existing tests run faster, run only those tests that are impacted by the change, run the regression pack, run the smoke tests, or just run the sanity tests. Do we think of non-functional tests? Do we think about how microservices are deployed independently and regularly?
