X Topic Abstract

Software Testing marketplace has evolved from with growth of IT industry. V-Model and ensuring adequate testing has helped deliver quality products and applications and has also helped industry ride on the wave to deliver as well as grow multi-fold capability.

The evolution has seen centralized/shared testing capability, test automation, focused testers. The industry has also survived with the confusion of Agile/DevOps and testing as part of it. Many proponents of Agile/DevOps shunned independent testing and many companies disbanded centralized test COEs to create decentralized/distributed capability. This further gave birth to Hybrid model. Test practitioner moved on from manual/process/domain skills to Automation and Agile process skills.

Test Automation matured from record and play to scripts to scriptless lowcode nocode. Devops has required Continuous Integration/Continuous Testing (CI/CD).

This talk is about what has worked well and what has not and what is in store for future.

X Topic Abstract

Do you know that DevTools doesn't give the right information about XPath & Selectors? Today it's almost impossible to verify selectors for shadow dom & nested shadow dom and nested iframes. Testers have long suffered through this during UI automation. Also we considered DevTools as a standard solution for locators but do you know that DevTools doesn't generate correct selectors for all the WebElements. There is no platform to debug XPath & CSS Selectors which can provide the information like what's wrong in selectors. And we all lived with these problems and we are living with them.

I always found everyone (including me) in our industry saying that we should learn to write our own XPath & Selectors but we never discussed where to write and where to learn and we ended up writing XPath in DevTools and learned many misconceptions and lived with the myths. But then one day I found that whatever we are doing is not correct and immediately I started working on these problems and was able to solve most of them and continuously working to solve every unsolved selectors problem.

In this talk, I will show how we all lived with these problems and are still doing things in the wrong way. I will discuss how we can use SelectorsHub and get better at locating Xpath and CSS Selectors which testers can use as part of our UI automation strategy.

I will also show 4 more Free Community Tools like AutoTestData, Testing Daily, TestCase Studio and TestCaseHub which will save a lot of time everyday in the Testing and development process.
