She has doctorate degree in Artificial Intelligence, masters and bachelors degrees in computer science and information technologies. She has 15 years of R&D experience and worked as assistant vice president of data science, analytics manager, lead data scientist, software engineer, system analyst, researcher, research scientist and authored many technical patents, conference proceedings, journal articles and blogs. She held best student awards, and scholarships for graduate and postgraduate studies and best employee awards.

X Topic Abstract

Model selection and evaluation is an integral part during the construction of models. Before handling any data, there is need to understand the nature of data and best suited model for the data. Evaluation helps to find most accurate model that represents our data and how well the chosen model will work in the future. For any good prediction, there must be a generalised model for unseen sample data and model should not fail to make better prediction with future sample. Different machine learning algorithms evaluation can help to select more proficient candidate for given problem. An experimental evaluation of machine learning algorithm for the supervised learning has been done using IoT data. Different machine learning algorithms are used depend upon the use cases and evaluated degree of accuracy and performance of models for prediction, classification and regression.

X Topic Abstract

Deep learning has increased in popularity with researchers and developers investigating and using it for various use cases and applications. This research work focuses on realtime network intrusion detection by making use of deep learning. A cloud-based prototype system was developed to investigate the capability of deep learning based binomial classification and multinomial models to detect network intrusions in real-time. An evaluation study was carried out using the benchmark NSL-KDD dataset to compare deep learning models built using H2O and DeepLearning4J libraries, with other commonly used machine learning models such as Support Vector Machines, Random Forest, Logistic Regression and Na¨ıve Bayes. The results showed that the choice of the deep learning library is an important factor to consider for real-time applications. The H2O deep learning based binomial and multinomial models generally outperformed the other models, achieving over 99.5% accuracy using crossvalidation on the NSL-KDD training dataset and over 83% accuracy on the test dataset.

X Topic Abstract

How programming, machine learning, data engineering and domain knowledge form the foundation of data science - and how open collaboration helps build better solutions. Lessons learned from building and deploying data science projects in production.
This talk will use real world examples from the healthcare industry to show how building scalable data pipelines and a data-driven culture requires cross-domain skills. Data is the DNA of a data-driven company. Data Engineering and Data Science cover the full process of transcripting and translating from DNA to presentable proteins, non-coding RNAs, or simply insights.

X Topic Abstract

According to a recent McKinsey survey, security has become top of minds for CEO's. However, in light of recent cyber-attacks, we're seeing that companies are still struggling when it comes to securing the enterprise. Machine learning provides unique insights which can be leveraged in real-time to detect and prevent cyber-attacks at scale. This talk is going to provide insights on how Microsoft leverages machine learning in their solutions to provide security at scale, along with a real life example of a large multi-billion dollar company and their journey to securing their enterprise.

X Topic Abstract

Artificial Intelligence will undoubtedly redefine our future. There has been an explosion of innovation in the field of A.I, which is predicted to further intensify in the coming years. Given the level of R&D investment placed in this exciting field, many companies have increased their efforts at protecting A.I related innovations. However, the majority of these companies have realised, at great expense and effort, that not all innovations can or should be protected. In this presentation, we will explore the nature of A.I innovations, how they can be protected, and provide examples of smart IP protection strategies that when correctly implemented can yield a tangible return on investment".

X Topic Abstract

1) Image Classification with Convolutional Neural Networks
2) Time Series Forecasting with LSTMs (Long-Short Term Memory Networks)

Speaker profile

Michael Grogan is a machine learning consultant and educator who specialises in the use of Python and R. He aids business stakeholders in using machine learning technologies to generate solutions for a variety of business intelligence issues, and has presented his work in machine learning research at major data science conferences across Europe.

X Topic Abstract

The talk will be more of hands of kind of talk- kind of a mini-workshop. Along the way, I will be explaining a few things about structuring an ML project as well.
How much data is really needed to train millions of parameters of a CNN model? Do we really need to start building our own model from scratch and start training with limited data? Can’t we use already learned parameters from a different model in our problem? Let’s learn and get our hands dirty on transfer learning using PyTorch to train on a comparatively small dataset to classify images of our interest.
