Overview of the event

Machine learning is a field of artificial intelligence that uses statistical techniques to give computer systems the ability to "learn from data, without being explicitly programmed.

The "deep" in "deep learning" refers to the number of layers through which the data is transformed. Deep Learning is a new area of Machine Learning research, which has been introduced with the objective of moving Machine Learning closer to its original goals. In deep Learning, each level learns to transform its input data into a slightly more abstract and composite representation.

Speaker Profile

Sameer has over 23 yrs of design and leadership experience at leading product companies building desktop, web, mobile, wearable & Speech applications. He holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Design from IIT Mumbai and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has published papers, UX patents and has been a speaker at many conferences and colleges. Presently he is the Head of Design at Flipkart.
He has played multiple roles ranging from VP of Design to being a design consultant and entrepreneur. He as worked as VP of Products at Spire Technology, Director Experience Design at Intuit & Human factors Lead at Intel California. Prior to this, he was Chief Researcher for LG R&D Lab in Seoul, South Korea. Sameer has also worked at enterprise software companies across India namely Oracle in Hyderabad and Siemens in Pune. He nurtured his entrepreneurial skills as VP of Design for Naukri.com in Noida. Early in his career, Sameer was an Industrial designer working for Piaggio scooter in Pontedera, Italy and as lead engineer in Mahindra & Bajaj Auto.

Reinforcement learning is one powerful paradigm for doing so, and it is relevant to an enormous range of tasks, including robotics and game playing. This session will provide a deep dive into the use of reinforcement learning in game playing including topics such as why artificial intelligence for games, characteristics of AI algorithm design, planning based approaches for game design. We will use multiple criteria for analysing RL algorithms and evaluate algorithms on key metrics. Finally, we will delve deeper into how companies such as Deepmind, OpenAI and others are mastering real time strategy games using a combination of machine learning and tree search techniques, combined with extensive training, both from human and computer play
