Overview of the event

DevOps is much more than just local improvement in the development, delivery and operation of software: it represents a movement thattouches development and operations (obviously!), but organizational culture, quality assurance, security, and program management.

Automation, Agile processes, micro services, continuous delivery, container and cloud technologies are essential to the current high performance IT transformation.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Machine Learning and AI provide immense opportunity in Data and Process Analytics for optimum outcomes.

New business models presented by Block chain are further increasing the opportunities for enterprise to create / manage disruptions.

The DevOps Enterprise Automation Conference will feature insightful talks and solution based discussions that will help to understand the concept of DevOps, associated benefits, scrutinize implementation challenges and their solutions.

DevOps Enterprise Automation Summit, Dublin
X Topic Abstract

The discussion would deal with what problems the Enterprise has with DevOps and Continuous Integration and why the fact that there is so much legacy technology in play makes this difficult but here is a solution.

Speaker Profile

John has over 35 years’ experience working with enterprise IT systems in various roles including development, design and architecture. He has used this experience to create a suite of products to address lack of access to complex test systems which is a major bottleneck in the roll out of new products and the on boarding of external customers in large enterprise organizations. The result of this is Ostia’s Portus EVS technology which enables the creation of clever, simulated test systems and sandboxes on demand. These sandboxes facilitate the modelling and testing of newstandards for Open Banking and PSD2, and implementation of new technologies such as Blockchain.

X Topic Abstract

The Fourth Industrial revolution (industry 4.0) signifying the era of automation is fast approaching. Manufacturing, agriculture, transport and many more sectors are already being transformed by recent advances in automation technology. It is predicted that by 2025 more than 25 billion smart objects would be integrated into our homes and workplaces.
At the same time, advanced Artificial Intelligence (A.I) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms need to be developed to make sense of the data gathered from these smart objects. Undoubtedly, we live in the age of disruptive innovation, where the generation of bright ideas is flourishing. However, amidst all the excitement, there is a sense of uncertainty on how best to protect the underline Intellectual Property (IP) to gain a competitive advantage in the era of automation. More specifically, there is much confusion surrounding the IP protection of software-based innovations, which forms an integral part of the industry 4.0 ecosystem. In this presentation, we will explain the current IP protection framework for software-based innovations, which will include a discussion on handling Trade Secrets, offer guidance on the development of a strong IP portfolio, and provide advice on how to leverage the IP generated to help your business succeed.

X Topic Abstract

DevOps has been traditionally used to deploy large projects but with more operational support to meet deadlines, However RPA in the DevOps world allows for an opportunity to provide a better strategy of code releases and become more agile to the businesses needs by supplying pre-set functions that just need to know the inputs and outputs before a release / test.
The benefits of a Robot are achieved by articulating the expected input / outputs into consistent reusable release bots which can act as the testing structure, the release structure and so on. This allows for ops to handle the rollout within operations rather than the administrative deployment cycle and thus provides a reduction in the time to release.

X Topic Abstract

In this talk, you will hear about the DevOps journey in our company, from the initial brown-field all-manual state toward the strategic destination of a fully automated and monitored process.
We hired new people, changed the processes, implementing automation, but the way is long and full of perils. We are not a startup, the luxury of green field: we have a big .Net application at the core and many other applications using different technologies and platforms. Some application stacks are hard to update, automation scripts fail to work on older software, infrastructure designed piecemeal, multiple host providers and more.
How are we trying to cope with this complexity? What is causing us most problems: technologies, design or people?
In equilibrium between an high-level view and useful practical tips, we will touch on what informed our decisions, in terms of priorities and technologies, some lessons learned in setting up Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform for Azure, and how the legacy constraints helped or hindered.
