In today's world scenario a BA has multiple roles from participating in agile projects to play the dual role of product owner, or business ambassador. In some teams, BAs also play the role of a user experience designer, team lead, change manager, technical analyst, and / or solution tester, perhaps even dabbling in technical design, data analytics or even development.

At BA Innovation Summit we will learn how business analysis can make the difference between a successful and a struggling project. The Business Analyst role is one of the most important roles in IT or any other business. A Business Analyst acts as a bridge between business ideas and business capabilities; creating and scoping valuable changes and optimisations to business processes. Measuring BA capabilities and performance in the organization become equally critical. It is rightly said by Peter Dracker, "If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.” Poor requirements can multiply the length and the cost of the Project. Timely feedback to Business Analysts community is very important.

The presentation will consist of sample KPIs for measuring BA performances along with Case studies/stories from organizations. The challenges faced by Management to give feedbacks, clarifying the responsibilities and priorities. How to become the Business Analyst everyone wants to work with by learning how to solve an organization’s problem before they make a costly mistake.

Speaker Profile

Peter Monkhouse is currently President of MonkArt, providing consulting and training services to organizations. In addition, Peter teaches project management courses at Ryerson University, University of Toronto, and University of Calgary.

Peter’s career is built on over 40 years of project and leadership experience. Throughout his career, Peter has actively led projects and project managers in the areas of education, consulting, engineering, information technology, health, and organizational change for multinational organizations. Over the past 20 years, Peter has taught over 6,000 students in Project Management in a variety of formats including classroom, online, and intensive formats.

In prior roles, Peter managed portfolios of continuing education certificates with over 4,000 enrollments, co-founded ZOOMtoLearn, and NewGen P and led programs of over 100 professionals and revenues over US$20 million per year implementing organizational change.

Peter has been an active volunteer with PMI for over 20 years and is presently Peter serving on PMI Education Foundation Board of Directors. Previously he served on the PMI Board of Directors for 6 years and was the Chair of the 2012 PMI Board. Peter is past president of the PMI Toronto; and has served on several Member Advisory Groups (MAGs). Recently, Peter co-authored the bestselling book Gen P New Generation of Product Owners Who Cave about Customers. Peter received his BSc (Engineering) from Queen’s University and his MBA from the University of Toronto.
