Considerable amount of digital data being generated these days is in form of audio, video, and images; and this trend will continue to grow in future. Organizations must equip themselves competently to address the evolving demands of data analytics driven by this change.

Image and video analytics is an important computer vision technology with the aim of making sense of image and video content in order to ultimately understand ubiquitous and rich source of information. It has been used in diverse multimedia applications, including visual surveillance, healthcare, smart cities, and security. These has led to a massive research effort devoted to research challenges in the development of image and video analytics for processing, analyzing, and interpreting the multimedia data.

The major breakthrough that happened in deep learning till recently is about processing images, identifying features, training features to recognize patterns from images and classifying images. That gives a lot of confidence to the organizations to automate various use cases that involves manual classification of images. The deep learning approach to feature extraction and image classification not only saves time, but also increases accuracy significantly, reduces human bias in making judgements. For example use cases like, images from vehicle insurance claim data base can help in making assessment of severity of the claims and hence prioritization in terms of clearing the claims. Identification of fraudulent claims showing older scratches in the vehicles, as new ones. etc. In this talk i am going to discuss more about feature extraction and modeling on Image data set to identify patterns and perform classification.

Speaker Profile

Pradeepta Mishra is a data scientist by profession, has expertise in designing Deep learning frameworks, implementation of machine learning systems, artificial intelligence systems for performing tasks such as understanding natural language, recommendation based on natural language processing, prediction and classification related tasks. He has filed two patents as an inventor which is currently pending status. He has authored two books on 'R data mining blueprints' and 'Mining text, sentiment, web using R'. There are two courses available on Udemy created from his books. He has delivered a Talk in Global Data Science conference 2018, at Santa Clara, CA, USA. One of his book has been a recommended text in HSLS centre, University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA. He has delivered a TEDx talk on 'Can Machines Think?', a session on power of artificial intelligence in transforming different industries and changing job roles across industries. He has mentored almost 2000 data scientists globally. At present authoring third book on 'Deep Learning using Python' expected to be published in last quarter of 2018. As a speaker delivered 20 plus tech talks on data science and artificial intelligence in various meet ups, technical institutions.

This talk will center around how Kaaenaat has built sophisticated computer vision and deep learning algorithm that run on low-powered devices costing less than $50. Akbar will also discuss the next level of differentiation for ambitious companies in the computer vision and deep learning space.

Akbar is a big believer in seeking out difficult challenges & solving hard problems. Over the years, teams led by him have created multiple innovative products & services and patented 20 inventions.

His current startup - Kaaenaat - creates robots & autonomous vehicle technologies for India & other emerging economies.

Akbar has a MS degree from Georgia Tech in Electrical Engineering, but has played roles as diverse as a teacher trainer, mechanical engineer, software coder, salesman & inventor.

Prof S Chandrasekhar is Senior Prof & Director Business Analytic at IFIM Business School B “Lore since Nov 2013.

He was chair Professor (July 1998-Feb 2013) & officiating Director at FORE School of Management, New Delhi (April 2009 to Jan 2010). He joined FORE School in 1988 as Senior Professor. He also headed the software development at Fore School of Management which developed proto type of products in the area of Business Intelligence, Risk Management, and Customer Relations Management. He has a total of about 34years of experience in R&D, Academic & Industry in the area of Quantitative Techniques & IT. Taught courses in the area of IT, QT, Adv. Market Research at Post Graduate level.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Master’s degree in Computer Science from IIT, Kanpur and Doctorate in Quantitative &Information Systems from University of Georgia, USA. Worked in India, USA and Canada in reputed organizations like TIFR, ISRO, NRSA, FORD Aerospace Corporation, National Research Council before joining IIM, Lucknow.

He worked as visiting Professor at Manchester Business School, U.K. for about a year. He has taught courses in the area of Information Technology, Decision Sciences and Forecasting. He also held other Academic administrative position at IIM Lucknow as Chairman Admission, Chairman quantitative & System Group, Head of computer Center, Member IIML Governing board etc. and conducted a number of Management Development Programs for Industry Executives.

Professor Chandrasekhar is a Fellow of the Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers, Fellow of Institution of Engineers, and Fellow of Association for Information Systems and Senior Member of Computer Society of India. Published papers in National and International Journals and also presented papers at various International Conferences, Chaired sessions at Intl/National level conferences, Guided students for their Masters and Doctoral Work.

Senthil started his career as market research analyst with firms like IMRB and Nielsen, before moving onto advanced analytics. During his stint with ABIBA Systems, he had consulted, deployed and delivered large scale analytics projects for leading telecom majors like MTN Group, Airtel, Orange and Virgin escpecially in areas of customer and marketing analytics. Later in his role as Head of Product Strategy in ABIBA Systems, he was instrumental in launching three products in the areas of Customer Analytics, Campaign Analytics, and Mobile Social Network Analytics. Later in DataRPM as Director – Product Management, he was instrumental in launching a Cognitive Computing Platform called Smart Machine Insights. His specialization lies in conceptualizing, building and managing analytics products and platforms.

At present, he is leadingthe AI & Cognitive Sciences Initiatives in Marlabs. Amruta Purandare is currently working as an Associate Director in the Analytics Centre of Excellence (CoE) at Happiest Minds Technologies, leading the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cognitive Computing group. Amruta holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering from Pune University, India and Master's in Computer Science from University of Minnesota, USA. Prior to joining Happiest Minds, Amruta worked as a Principal Data Scientist in MakeMyTrip, India's leading online travel company, and as a Project Lead in the Analytics team at Persistent Systems Ltd. In the current era of digital communication, the use of digital images has increased for expressing, sharing and interpreting information. While working with digital images, quite often it is necessary to search for a specific image for a particular situation based on the visual contents of the image. This task looks easy if you are dealing with tens of images but it gets more difficult when the number of images goes from tens to hundreds and thousands, and the same content-based searching task becomes extremely complex when the number of images is in the millions. To deal with the situation, some intelligent way of content-based searching is required to fulfill the searching request with right visual contents in a reasonable amount of time. There are some really smart techniques proposed by researchers for efficient and robust content-based image retrieval. In this Talk, the aim is to highlight the efforts of researchers who conducted some brilliant work and to provide a proof of concept for intelligent content-based image & Video retrieval techniques.
