X Topic Abstract

Trusted collaboration without revealing business sensitive information is a key requirement for any B2B market platform. Building such platforms offers many challenges. Our work explores innovative new ways in which ideas from game theory, blockchain technology, and cryptography can be harnessed to build such trusted and privacy-preserving collaborative market platforms involving strategic, and competing, buyers and sellers. We use game theory to model the strategic interactions between buyers and sellers on such a platform and derive conditions under which high quality offerings from the sellers constitute an equilibrium. Our approach thus yields a strategy proof platform that induces honest behavior by all the players. Our key contribution is also to demonstrate that the technology of permissioned blockchains provides a technically robust way of implementing the proposed platform.

X Topic Abstract

A view from both sides of the fence. As a Corporate VC, we have invested in the public blockchain by way of an investment in the largest bitcoin wallet and exchange in the US, Coinbase. At the same time, we are also privy to the work of R3 in pushing forward work around permissioned blockchains. In this talk, we compare progress of the two and provide some possible futures as to how the two worlds may come together over time.

X Topic Abstract

If there was a cash prize of a billion dollar to reveal many secrets of manufacturing, open to millions of employees who have worked across sectors, levels and at all ages, there would be a million who would come forward to divulge, many in private, how they have not only survived but also thrived. They have smartened the maddening bosses expecting magic at the last hour of the delivery; by-passing of the restrictive quality system's confining each move and record; hoodwinking the preening eyes of customers vouching every delivery on quality, cost and delivery and business stakeholders counting every penny resource provided.

Smartening is not the sports of marketing alone. My deep appreciation still holds even when my disciplined brushing of teeth for five decades and counting, is yet to shine my teeth anywhere near to the flash as advertised in all toothpastes I have used. Manufacturing employees living in the reality of manifested world of products, not as lucky as their counterparts in un-menifested world of emotions, intelligence, digital and fin-tech, where one can gracefully promise for the heaven and the world riches, have also learnt from their smarter brethren's how to sail through in this tumultuous world of manufacturing.

Many a consultants, auditors, experts and trainers from Lean, Six sigma, Theory of Constraints (TOC), Design of Experiments (DOE), Quality Systems, Re-engineering etc have found mines of ignorance and smartening during a sample audit and a walk! Layers of assumptions comes crumbling down with each customer dissatisfaction and failure. Also, many are never reported and many get confined to the history in the flames of multi cause. Products and the users may never know as one of them runs off life or both - a negative externalities (adverse impact of products) of a trillion dollars, unaccounted for!

Blockchain in Manufacturing is the commitment by the business that as the event happens it gets captured in a time, space and resources visible on realtime basis from grain to grain (end to end). It's akin to commitment by CEO of the toothpaste company that your tooth will shine as per advertisement or the 100x money back. Try implementing and I am sure the change leader would face mother of all resistance as this suggested realtime integrated work space through Blockchain will leave nothing further - only value!

A beginning can be made through identifying areas where blockchain must be implemented first in the manufacturing domain. Preparing a matrix based on Criticality and Safety, Theory of Constrains and Risk Assessment will help in identifying the dots which are to be connected through blockchain. This blockchain will further get integrated with downstream and upstream supply chains similar to GST implementation through a common ledger. A single vendor catering to multiple customers have more the reasons to implement Blockchain to ensure that they have not messed up and not counted twice unnoticed.

Invite my friends who are consultants, auditors, experts and trainers particularly from manufacturing domain to design a MANUFACTURING BLOCKCHAIN which connects Value Chain on realtime and thus eliminating all the possible post events and activities. Sourcing friends take a note of future unfolding lest its late.

Its a warm up for the unfolding disruptive world of 3D, IOT, VR, AR etc. of Manufacturing Era 4.0. In my view, BLOCKCHAIN will progressively replace all systems (quality, environment and health) and Enterprise Resource Planning System.

Let's save hidden trillions of dollars through this OPEN SOURCE to earn billions - a gift well earned!

X Topic Abstract

Ever since the launch of smart-contract based blockchain platforms like Ethereum, there has been a spur of attempts at building decentralized applications exploiting the self-executing nature of smart contracts. Ideally asmart contract can be coded to handle all possible scenarios, but reality is much more complex, and a process is required to reach consensus on subjective matters that cannot be fully captured by software algorithms.

X Topic Abstract

Adtech ecosystem is complex due to the lack of trust between transacting parties. Job of providing the Tracking, Attribution and Fraud detection is entrusted with middlemen which also means a big chunk of value is absorbed by this middle layer. Blockchain presents itself as a most viable alternative to cut through these complex multi-layered ecosystems save billions of ad dollars for both advertisers and publishers. But is the blockchain technology truly ready to take these challenges head on? We would look into some of the players who have adopted blockchain technology so far and have been instrumental in shaping the future of the adtech- blockchain marriage.

X Topic Abstract

Blockchain technology promises to bring in a paradigm shift in how digital transactions are carried out in today's connected world. Starting from being simply an immutable ledger that can securely record transactions, the technology is evolving rapidly towards becoming a complete platform for running distributed, decentralized applications. It is now possible to develop Blockchain applications that implement complex business logic and security features, enabling new business models and re-imagining existing ones.

In this talk, we'll explore what are the building blocks of Distributed applications - calls Dapps, on Blockchain and the key characteristics that differentiate them from existing application designs. Like all new technologies, Blockchain in its current state has few limitations. While their solutions are being actively worked out, we'll look at some of these challenges that developers and users of Dapps face. From Ethereum to Hyperledger and smart-contracts to chain-code, we'll review some of the competing blockchain technologies that are trying to find favor with developers. And finally we'll look at few industry use cases and how they can be implemented using Blockchain distributed applications.

X Topic Abstract

EOS is a Smart Contract Platform to take the design philosophy of Steem&BitShares to another level. It is a combination of scalability of Graphene and the power of Ethereum's smart contracts together. EOS uses :

Delegated Proof-of-Stake.
Network Bandwidth Allocation system to effectively share the blockchain.

Some people also called EOS as 'Ethereum Killer project'. EOS is planning to use the asynchronous communication of smart contracts and parallel processing in order to support thousands of applications and millions of transactions on the blockchain simultaneously. It will be designed to support communication not just internally, but externally too. So it should be possible to connect other blockchains to communicate with them.

At present, blockchain technology is dealing with a few issues like scalability (Bitcoin’s scalability issue), costly (Ethereum increases gas charges) etc. Companies using or planning to use, are looking easy way to adopt this brand-new revolutionary technology. EOS is the blockchain for building commercial scale decentralized applications that are indistinguishable from centralized alternatives.

EOS is the only blockchain platform designed with:

Parallel Processing
A Decentralized Operating System
A Ratifiable Constitution
Self Sufficiency and Evolution

DACs are the equivalent of exchange-listed companies that pay a dividend, however, the blockchain replaces the exchange and the dividend is in the firm of a virtual asset.

A distributed autonomous corporation (DAC) is a subset within distributed autonomous organisations, all DACs are DAOs, but not all DAOs are DACs. The defining feature of a DAC is that it is profit driven. The incredible thing is that DACs have ceased being theoretical concept and already exist in reality. Online casinos and gambling sites such as Satoshidice display all the properties of a DAC, and are continually developing. The introduction of platforms like Ethereum can only accelerate this development further. The future is upon us already, and nobody has even batted an eyelid.

X Topic Abstract

Nearly 10 years after the inception of the first Blockchain proposal (Satoshi's white paper) and the majority of the value circulating the through the Blockchain industry is still concentrated at the lowest level of the tech stack.

In order to make progress we need to embrace a radically different approach when working on products and services, rather than remaining attached to the user-server/service-provider framework, there's a need to think in terms of ecosystems. Entrepreneurs can't afford waiting to see which smart contract platform will dominate the market, but, what we can do is transcend the strict dependency and yet make serious progress in laying the foundation for the decentralized web.

X Topic Abstract

We have been fortunate to witness several path breaking disruptions for a single lifetime - be it the advent of massive supercomputing, the larger than life ecommerce platforms, one stop mobile enabled instant value solutions, or the latest one around the block - the Blockchain! Few things have caught the imagination and dread of technologists around the world in such a short span of time as has the Blockchain. It has certainly outlived the lifespan of being yet another geeky hype and yet I hear people wanting to tread this space with caution. The reason being part ignorance, part lack of understanding of the risk involved and part the inability to judge if "this really makes sense to my business".

In this session I would like to draw your attention to some of the latest work that has been happening in moving this from a tech lab to a business environment. Technologists, world leaders, governments, CXOs have been debating on this and there is a wealth of insights that we can all draw upon. More importantly, we will engage in an interactive discussion of how do you go about deciding what is the right time and the right strategy to embark upon the Blockchain journey in your business.
